ALCANTARA-LED Conal Holdings Corp. is close to awarding the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for its planned $450-million, 200-megawatt (MW) coal-fired plant in Mindanao’s Sarangani province, a company executive said.
“We expect to award the EPC contract to one of these two companies within the month of April,” Joseph C. Nocos, Conal vice-president, told reporters, referring to two South Korean companies short-listed for the contract.
The two are Daelim Industrial Co., Ltd. and the Hyundai Engineering and Construction Corp. and Hyundai Corp. consortium.
Mr. Nocos said construction of the plant may begin by September this year. The first phase is expected to be finished by July 2013.
The first phase involves the construction of the first 100-MW unit. The second phase, which includes the installation of a second 100-MW unit, will open 18 to 24 months after the first phase. Read more...
